The RANZ VGA to HDMI Converter is built for home users, students, and office professionals who have a desktop or laptop computer with only a VGA video output — and need to connect it to a modern HDMI-only TV, monitor, or projector — while also passing audio through the HDMI connection to the display or TV speakers, without needing a separate audio cable to the display.

This is an active VGA to HDMI converter — it includes an internal signal processing chip that actively converts the analogue VGA signal to a digital HDMI output, enabling 1080p Full HD video output to HDMI displays that would otherwise be incompatible with a VGA source. Because VGA is a video-only interface and HDMI carries audio and video together, a 3.5mm auxiliary audio input port allows a 3.5mm audio cable (included) to be connected from the source PC’s headphone/audio output to the converter — embedding the audio alongside the video signal for combined audio+video delivery over the single HDMI output. The converter requires 5V DC power for the active conversion chipset to operate — provided via the included USB power cable connected to any USB-A port or USB charger (5V 1A or higher). The 0.5-metre cable provides a compact, portable form factor for desk use and portability. The direction is one-way: VGA source to HDMI display only, not reversible.
